How You Start Your Day Matters

July 27 2026

I’ve found over the years is that my day is usually decided before work even begins. The way I start my morning has a direct impact on how I show up for everything that follows. I’m intentional about that.

Everyone has a different routine. Some people pray. Some meditate. Some exercise. Some spend a few quiet minutes planning their day before they look at their phone.

The routine itself isn’t what’s important. The intention behind it is. I’ve always believed it’s easier to stay focused when you know exactly what you’re working toward.

A while back, I started thinking less about annual goals and more about the daily actions required to reach them. If you know where you want to end up, you can begin working backward. What has to happen this month? What has to happen this week? What needs to happen today?

That way, every day has a purpose instead of becoming a long list of random tasks.

I’ve also learned that being productive isn’t about working every waking hour. Some of my best ideas come when I’m not working at all.

Reading a book. Watching something that has nothing to do with commercial real estate or business. Exploring crypto. Exploring sports betting. Those moments give my mind a chance to reset.

Ironically, I usually come back to work with more clarity than when I left it.

The longer I’ve been an entrepreneur, the more I’ve realized that success isn’t just about how hard you work. It’s also about how well you take care of the person doing the work.

For me, starting the day with intention and ending it with time to recharge has become just as important as anything on my calendar.

Does this resonate with you?

xoxo,

Cyn
