Why The “Art” of Networking?

September 10 2026

I’ve learned over the years is that not every networking event is worth your time. After more than twenty years in business, I’ve become much more intentional about where I spend my evenings and who I spend them with.

I don’t need to be in the biggest room. I’d rather be in the right one. And that’s why we have SOUP, the Society of Urban Professionals.

The idea was simple. Bring together entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, investors, and community leaders who genuinely want to build relationships that last beyond one event.

Every month we host gatherings like The Art of Networking and Next Level Networking, and while each event is a little different, the goal is always the same.

Create an environment where people can actually connect. That means keeping the room intentional.

We take time to think about who we invite because the quality of the conversations matters more than the size of the crowd.

It’s not a loud networking party where everyone is trying to hand out as many business cards as possible.

It’s a place where you can have real conversations, exchange ideas, and meet people who may become clients, collaborators, mentors, or friends.

We also bring in people who share practical knowledge.

At one of our recent Art of Networking events, we had a content creator walk everyone through podcasting, video production, cameras, microphones, and creating better content. The goal wasn’t just to network. It was to leave with something you could actually use.

That’s what SOUP is. A community where relationships come first, learning never stops, and everyone leaves with something valuable.

If that sounds like the kind of room you’d like to be in, I’d love to welcome you to our next event.

xoxo,

Cyn
